Sonic Frontiers takes the legendary Blue Blur in a new direction with an expansive open-zone adventure that combines high-speed platforming, action-packed combat, and exploration on a scale never before seen in the Sonic franchise. After becoming separated from his friends, Sonic finds himself stranded on the mysterious Starfall Islands, a chain of ancient locations filled with secrets, advanced technology, and powerful enemies.

Players are free to explore vast landscapes that include lush grasslands, towering cliffs, deserts, forests, ancient ruins, and mechanical structures. Each environment is packed with puzzles, collectibles, platforming challenges, hidden paths, and opportunities to discover new upgrades and abilities. The open-zone design encourages players to explore at their own pace while taking advantage of Sonic's incredible speed and agility.

Combat plays a larger role than ever before, introducing a deep action system that allows Sonic to dodge attacks, unleash powerful combos, perform special abilities, and defeat massive bosses.
